Plans and billing

Your organisation is on one of four plans -- Free, Pro, Team or Enterprise. The plan decides which features are available, how many seats are included, and which tiers are billed per seat. This page explains the plans and exactly how seat charges work.

What a plan controls

  • Features. Capabilities such as static exports and canvas layouts are unlocked by plan. The Plan & usage page (Admin area) lists every feature with a tick or cross for your current plan. Requires the Administrator tier (T7) or above to view.
  • Seats. Each plan includes a number of seats, and may include per-tier allotments (for example, a number of Builder seats in the base fee). Beyond what is included, billable tiers are charged per seat per month -- see Inviting and seats for how seats are counted.
  • Usage allowances. Plans can carry limits on metered activity -- see Usage limits.

On the Free plan an organisation has a single seat: it is for trying Flynt out, not for a team. Enterprise plans have no fixed member cap.

How seat charges work: the high-water rule

Seat billing follows one rule: each month is charged at the highest number of seats you held at any point in that month.

In practice:

  • Adding a seat mid-month bills the full month immediately. There is no pro-rating -- a seat added on the 25th costs the same as one added on the 1st, and is invoiced straight away.
  • Dropping and re-adding within the same month never double-charges. If you go from 52 seats down to 51 and back up to 52, nothing extra is billed -- the month's peak was already 52 and already paid for.
  • Reductions take effect from the next billing period. Reduce from 52 to 51 today and the current month still bills at 52 (its peak); next month starts, and bills, at 51.
  • Removing a user does not reduce the bill. It frees the seat for someone else; the purchased count -- and the charge -- only drops when an Owner explicitly reduces it in seat management.

The Seat management panel shows each tier's "peak this period" so you can see what the current month will be charged at.

Upgrading and managing your subscription

Both actions live on the Plan & usage page and require the Owner tier (T8):

  • Upgrade -- choose Pro or Team and monthly or annual billing; you are taken to a secure checkout to enter payment details. For Enterprise, contact us.
  • Manage billing -- once subscribed, opens the customer portal where you update the payment method, view invoices, or cancel.

If a renewal payment fails, your plan is not cut off on the spot -- there is a short grace period while the payment is retried. A payment that never succeeds returns the organisation to the Free plan.

Availability

Billing runs in a preview mode until payment processing is enabled for your organisation: the plan and seat pages work, but checkout and the customer portal are not yet live. Contact support to change plan in the meantime.

Good to know

  • Who may grow the bill past the purchased seats (Owner only, admins by request, or admins self-serve) is a separate Owner-controlled policy -- see Inviting and seats.
  • Checkout, plan changes and seat purchases are all recorded in the audit log (Audit, backups and GDPR).
